Conducting Effective Depositions in an Unpredictable World

Course Description

Up until 2020, conducting in-person depositions was the preferred format by most U.S. attorneys. Then, seemingly overnight, the world changed due to the coronavirus outbreak. Court systems across the country clearly recognized the danger of face-to-face interactions amid the pandemic crisis and reacted immediately to permit the use of remote technologies to conduct proceedings. As a result, the legal industry adapted to emerging videoconferencing platforms to mirror the in-person deposition experience within a virtual setting.

Now that we’re on the other side of the learning curve, what does the future hold for depositions? As we pave the way forward towards a post-pandemic world, what does the landscape for in-person and remote environments look like? Moving ahead, what guidelines can be followed in terms of best practices?
