Professional Experience:

Hon. Lisa S. Van Amburg served as a Circuit Court Judge for the 22nd Judicial Circuit from 2003 to 2012 and as an Appellate Court Judge for the Eastern District of Missouri from 2012 to 2018.

During her time on the bench Judge Van Amburg presided over numerous jury trials for civil and criminal matters.  Also during her tenure Judge Van Amburg was active in fostering community programs that focused on restorative justice, aiding non-violent offenders to meet their responsibilities to the victims of crime as well as succeeding in the community upon re-entry from the criminal justice system.   

Judge Van Amburg served on the Court of Appeals where she authored numerous opinions on a wide range of topics including wrongful death, medical malpractice, truck and car accidents, probate, family, employment and other civil rights as well as criminal matters.

Prior to this role, she practiced law for 27 years as a founding partner of Anderson, Everett, Sedey and Van Amburg; Schuchat Cook and Werner and Van Amburg, Chackes, Carlson and Spritzer, litigating numerous matters in federal and state courts on behalf of working people.  Lisa also briefed and argued cases before state and federal appellate courts, including the United States Supreme Court.

Lisa is currently a Professor of Practice at St. Louis University School of Law and she serves as co-chair of the Covid-19 Taskforce for the Missouri Bar.
