Timothy J. Gearin
Areas of Expertise:
Medical Malpractice / Medical Negligence, Other, Personal Injury
Services:
Mediator, Arbitrator
For nearly 30 years, Tim Gearin remained one of the Midwest's most highly experienced, respected, and sought-after litigators. Before going down this prestigious path, Tim spent 12 years as an intensive care nurse, learning invaluable knowledge about medicine and how hospitals and other health care providers operate. Upon becoming a lawyer and eventually joining Armstrong Teasdale in 1997, Tim harnessed these hard-earned medical skills to successfully represent clients in medical malpractice, catastrophic injury, and wrongful death claims.
Tim tried more than 100 jury trials throughout the United States, and his successful verdicts ranked among Missouri’s highest for more than 15 years. Upon looking at his case file, he expressed particular pride concerning his work with Paul Kovacs in the high-profile Kinder v Domino’s and Cole v Goodyear plaintiff cases. In recognition of his superb advocacy skills, he was inducted into the American College of Trial Lawyers in 2014. Additionally, Tim chaired Armstrong Teasdale’s contingency committee and oversaw its high-profile plaintiff cases for several years.
However, as of 2025, Tim entered his favorite era– retirement. While he has stepped back from his partnership at Armstrong Teasdale, he continues to conduct “some” mediations through Lexitas. Tim’s office is located in the Lexitas building in St. Louis, a building that holds a special place in his family’s history. It was once a firehouse in the late nineteenth century, and Tim’s great-grandfather, John J. Gearin, served as a firefighter there until the early 1900s. This connection is a coincidence that Tim considers, in his own words, “good karma.”
